(A) Model 1860 style cavalry saber with slightly curved polished blade with wide fuller and narrow partial fuller on each side. Right side of ricasso "N.J." denoted ownership by the state of New Jersey. The opposite side makers mark "BM" for maker J.E. Bleckmann of Solingen, Germany. Standard 1860 style cast brass hilt with two branches on right side and leather wrapped grip decorated with copper wire. Complete with nickel plated steel scabbard. CONDITION: Very good, blade retains about 95% of its original polish with some areas of frosting and grey spotting. Hilt retains a pleasing mustard patina with a few scattered marks. Grip is excellent. Scabbard retains about 95% of its original nickel finish with some minor losses at drag and around mounts. (B) U.S. Model 1852 Naval Officers sword. Slightly curved blade, etched on the right side with an eagle, a shield, a fouled anchor, all surrounded foliate motifs. The opposite side has a large "U.S.", a dolphin, and stands of arms. The ricasso is etched "C. Roby & Co/W. Chelmsford/Mass". Standard Model 1852 hilt with pierced guard chased with relief acorns, oakleafs, and "U.S.N" in a banner. Dolphins head quillon and knucklebow extension. Shagrin wrapped grip, decorated with twisted brass wire. Complete with steel scabbard with brass mounts. CONDITION: Blade retains a spotted grey patina, showing some light wear. Hilt retains a mustard patina with some light wear and scattered marks. Grip very good. Scabbard mounts retain a matching patina and show some minor denting. Steel portion retains a gun metal grey patina.
