This rifle exhibits many features that indicate manufacture in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. It features a fully octagonal barrel, which is unsigned, and has sights mounted on top flat. The flat lockplate is stamped "LONDON WARRANTED" in the center and has scattered sprigs of engraving. Faceted brass Lehigh County trigger guard and buttplate. Sliding wooden patchbox lid is original and has some incised carving. Full length figured maple stock of late Lehigh County form. Complete with period wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel retains a dark brown patina with some area of breech showing filing marks. Lock has been reconverted and retains a brown finish with some areas of corrosion. Brass has been polished and retains a mellowing patina. Stock has no restoration or replaced wood but there are a series of holes surrounding the patchbox, possibly where there was once tack decoration.
