Lot consists of: Item (A) Framed, handwritten letter from the Office of the Gatling Gun Company, Hartford, Connecticut dated March 23rd, 1883; written to Colt's Patent Firearms Manufacturing Co."Gentlemen: Please send to the National Armory, Springfield Mass- bill to us - one lock complete, one cocking piece. (Ring?). For five barrel, 0.45-cal. gun no. 210. Yours Respectfully R.J. Gatling". It is framed with an engraved image of Mr. Gatling for the Science record with his image and facsimile autograph. Photo measures 5" x 7", letter measures 5" x 8". Professionally framed to 17-1/4" to 14-1/8". Item (B) Receipt from Colt's Patent Firearms Co. dated August 21st, 1862, for sundry Gatling parts. Item (C) Architect drawing on rice paper of the barrel breech and gears. Measures 12" x 25". Folded in center. Item (D) Drawing on rice paper in German, dated 1867. Item (E) Copy of the Certificate of Disillusion of the Gatling Gun Co. dated June 16th, 1912; produced by lawyers. Item (F) Copy of File No. 224 filed with the State of Connecticut House of Representatives dated May 1874. Six written pages detailing company organization. Item (G) Small 7" x 7", four fold mailer advertising the New Model five barreled Gatling Gun advertisement. Item (H) Letter dated August 23rd, 1872 written by Colt to a potential client ordering Gatling Gun parts. Item (I) Handwritten ledger on note paper detailing Gatling Gun parts request. Item (J) Copy of several pages of an article dealing with the Gatling Gun, with one of the pages showing the Gatling Gun adapted to Indian and Oriental warfare, showing Gatling Gun mounted on camel. Item (K) Hand written ledger to E. Remington & Sons ordering Gatling Gun parts. Item (L) Colorized drawing of side and top views of a Gatling Gun with carriage. Measures 25" x 18". Some toning and light chipping on upper right side.
