The Remington Company advertised these attractive oddities as "just the thing for taxidermists and protection against highwaymen and dogs". A classic example of this desirable gun cane large dog head variation being the most recognizable of the genre. This example has a silver ferrule in addition to a German silver ferrule and still retains its steel exposed barrel. CONDITION: Gutta percha barrel appears to have few if any repairs. The action has been cracked and repaired below the German silver ferrule. Dog head rates excellent. Action is frozen, so we are unable to guarantee function. A most presentable example of this well known oddity.
