Lot consists of four U.S. 1906 light cavalry swords. The Model 1906 was almost identical to its predecessor, the Model 1860 which was used through the Civil and Indians Wars. The biggest difference between the Model 1906 to the Model 1860 was the steel hilt compared to 1860's brass hilt. The Model 1906 served as the last curved saber made for cavalry, as vehicular transport was becoming more common place in the military setting post WWI. (A) Manufactured by A.S. Co. Ricasso on right side is marked "A.S. Co./ Flaming Bomb/ 1906". Left side marked "U.S./ J.H.C.". Steel hilt. Leather wrapped grip. Complete with scabbard. CONDITION: Blade is in fair condition, showing corrosion and grey spotting the length of the blade. Blade shows few small nicks. Steel hilt has turned gun metal grey and shows areas of corrosion. Leather wrapped grip shows aging with 1 - 1/8" area of loss from grip. Twisted brass wire is not present. Scabbard has turned gun metal grey and shows corrosion the entire length. (B) Manufactured by A.S. Co. Ricasso on right side is marked "A.S. Co./ Flaming Bomb/ 1906". Left side marked "U.S./ J.H.C.". Steel hilt. Leather wrapped grip with twisted brass wire. Complete with scabbard. CONDITION: Blade is in good condition with areas of pitting and scattered areas of corrosion. Sharpening marks on top 9" of blade. Steel hilt shows corrosion and surface rust. Leather grip is in good condition with wear scattered all around and area of loss down by the pommel. Scabbard shows surface rust and corrosion the entire length. (C) Manufactured by A.S. Co. Ricasso on right side is marked "A.S. Co./ Flaming Bomb/ 1906". Left side marked "U.S./ J.H.C.". Steel hilt. Leather wrapped grip with twisted brass wire. Complete with scabbard. CONDITION: Blade is good showing small areas of pitting and corrosion. Hilt is in good condition, retaining majority of original color. Leather grip is good, but showing areas of loss by pommel and wear all around. Scabbard is in poor condition showing pitting, corrosion, and surface rust all around with a dent on one side. (D) Manufactured by A.S. Co. Ricasso on right side is marked "A.S. Co./ Flaming Bomb/ 1906". Left side marked "U.S./ J.H.C.". Steel hilt. Leather wrapped grip with twisted brass wire. Complete with scabbard. CONDITION: Blade is in great condition showing grey patina all around. Steel hilt retains majority of original color with small areas of greying patina. Leather grip is good with areas of loss near pommel and wear all around. Scabbard is great with areas of greying patina and minor handling marks. Overall a nice lot of Model 1906 light cavalry sabers.
