Lot consists of (A) Standard 1913 Cavalry "Patton" Saber with basket hilt, double edged straight spear point blade with a deep single fuller running down both sides of the blade, marked on left side of ricasso "L.F. (Flaming Bomb) & C / 1918" and "U.S / (Eagle Head) / NO 12". Canvas wrapped scabbard with metal throat and drag. CONDITION: Blade is fair with pitting all along the blade. Guard is a deep even patina with silvering at some of the high edges and a few patches of silver. Some traces of bluing on inside of guard. Scabbard throat and drag have significant marks and nicks from use. Canvas wrap has a few nicks and discoloration. (B) Standard 1913 Cavalry "Patton" saber with basket hilt, straight double edged spear point blade with a deep single fuller running down both sides of the blade. Left ricasso marked "S (Flaming Bomb) A / 1913", right side "U.S / 4437". Canvas wrapped scabbard in a lovely green with attached picket pin in sheath. CONDITION: Blade is good with sharpening marks along the cutting edge and some scattered pitting. Legends are sharp and legible. Cup is very fine retaining the majority of the blue finish with high edge wear and a few scattered areas of bare metal showing through. Leather spacer still present. Scabbard is quite good with some browning to the canvas at near the drag but intact. Chape and drag are good with some marks from use. Picket pin is good with scattered areas of finish loss and some light patina. Picket pin sheath is good with scattered marks from use. Back has some areas of rub where it contacted the canvas sheath and moved around. Some verdigris around metal. Stitching is tight. This is a nice lot of two of the last sabers used by the United States Army, which moved away from sabers when World War I rendered them largely irrelevant.
