This is a late Third Model with small brass trigger guard and backstrap. This scarce revolver all or partial matching numbers on the frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder pin, cylinder, barrel, wedge, and loading lever. Barrel sports the New York City address. Features the large recoil shield with no cap groove. You will find inspector mark "T" on barrel. Walnut grips show faint cartouches on both panels, visible but not readable. It appears as if there is the remains of a cartouche on the left grip, but it is indiscernible as the grips have been lightly cleaned at one time. Not cut for shoulder stock. Left side of frame has the standard "COLTS PATENT" stamp. CONDITION: Barrel retains approximately 60-70% original blue finish. Remnants of strong case colors on loading lever. Flashes of original blue on cylinder with near mint battle scene and original nipples. 75% original case colors on frame stamped "COLTS PATENT US". Grips have been oiled and are shy at left front toe. Screws heads are nice. Action tight as new. Strong, well defined rifled bore with minor residue. Fine pre-Civil War military shipped 1851 Navy Model Colt.
