Group identified to First Sergeant Wilber A Lee, Company D, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion. Sergeant Lee was wounded in action on May 5, 1918 in the Cantigny Sector and again on October 28th, 1918 in the Mouzon Sector. The group consists of: Wool tunic with First Division patch, discharge chevron, four gold overseas chevrons, two wound chevrons, first sergeant chevron, "US/2" and Infantry MG/D collar disks. Left shoulder looped with a French fourragere. Pinned to the chest are: Split brooch, numbered, BB&B contract Silver Star with oak leaf cluster, named on the reverse "Wilber A. Lee": Split brooch, numbered, Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster, named on the reverse "Wilber A. Lee": Victory medal mounted with "Montdidier-Noyon", "Aisne-Marne", "St Mihiel", "Meuse-Argonne" and "Defensive Sector" bars and with two silver stars: Army of Occupation medal: French Croix de Guerre and American Legion 1917-1927 medal. Included is a wool garrison cap with infantry / MG collar disk. The tunic shows a few small holes and minor wear, decorations show toning and wear to the reverse finishes. A very nice group to a veteran twice wounded and twice cited for gallantry in action.
