Group identified to John T. Lloyd who served with Sanitary Squad Unit 12, American Ambulance Service in France. The group consists of: Tunic with Red Cross armband on left sleeve, bullion " American Ambulance" tab on right sleeve and flaming bomb "A" collar insignia, Geneva cross buttons. Missing metal shoulder strap titles. Paris tailor's label in collar and pocket label, on which is inked "J.T. Lloyd 5061 Feb 17". Pinned to the breast is an American Field Service medal and a French "1915-1918" service medal. Tunic is in excellent condition with a few minor holes: Tunic with flaming bomb "A" collar insignia, ball buttons and Red Cross armband. Paris tailor's label in collar and pocket label, on which is inked "J.T. LLoyd 51041 June 17". Pinned to the chest is an American Field Service medal and French "1915-1918" service medal ribbon, the planchet detached and in pocket. Excellent condition: Visor Cap with American Ambulance Service France badge, soft top, silk crown lining, leather sweatband embossed "English Cap" and inked "Lloyd". Cap is in very good condition showing moderate service wear but no damage: Visor Cap with American Field Service France badge, soft top, silk crown lining stamped with Paris makers name. Excellent condition: French infantry helmet complete with liner and chin strap in very good condition: French wool covered canteen, improvised strap utilizing an American pistol lanyard. Cover shows wear: 1915 Diary spanning January 1 - April 24, 1915, concerning life within the Ambulance Service in the Paris area. Clearly written in black ink and in excellent condition: Green wool shirt showing heavy use: Leather belt with darkened brass buckle, leather stamped "R.I.A. 1904", in very good condition: British St. John Ambulance Brigade belt and buckle in excellent condition: Two copies of the small "Field Service Bulletin" dated 1918: American Field Service Bulletin, "The Reserve Mallet", dated March 8, 1919: 3 Volume Set Of Books " History of the American Field Service in France", 1920: Memorial Volume of the American Field Service In France with a roster of casualties , 1921: Three original photographs of ambulances and personnel. Paper material very good condition. A rare and extensive group to an uncommon unit with service in France before America entered World War I.
