The broad 32 - 1/2" pipe back saber blade is 1 - 1/2" wide at the ricasso and beautifully etched for 3/4 of its length with an angel blowing a trumpet, British Royal Arms with Honi solt qui mal e peb and Dieu et mon droit, a helmeted cavalryman wielding a similar saber, left side with a figure of Minerva with spear and shield, trophies of arms, and the British Royal crown. Stirrup hilt of steel. Wooden grip with triple strand wire wrap. Steel scabbard with two carrying rings. CONDITION: Blade is very fine with all etching clearly visible, retains its original leather washer. Blade has four minor chips mostly towards point and above etching. Stirrup hilt with doves head pommel is patinated with some minor pitting. Wooden grip retains some original leather with losses. Scabbard is heavily rusted throughout, uncleaned dark patina. A most impressive and rare saber.
