The 32" inch blade with single fuller, etched and gilt with British Royal Arms, Dieu et mon droit on left (God and my right), right side with entwined monarch's initials on right, surrounded by a Royal crown, further engraved with trophies of arms. D guard hilt with clamshell guard and single langette. Urn pommel cast and chased with acanthus foliage. Elaborate twisted silver wire wrapped grip. Black leather scabbard with gilt brass chape and locket. CONDITION: Blade with some pitting, significant traces of bluing and gilt. The hilt retaining much original bright fire gilding. Silver wrapped grip rates excellent. Scabbard mounts retaining considerable gilt, chape with some dents. Scabbard itself is good for a sword of this age. A very attractive Napoleonic period British officer's sword.
