Grenadier and Jaeger Officer's iron saber. Single wide fuller curved blade is triple acid etched with Panoply of Arms and floral motifs with Erinnerung on the obverse and "an den 13.14.15 Martz 1848" on the reverse, commemorating the Hungarian revolt and new constitution of 1848. Blade with false back edge. P-style polished iron guard has plain dove head pommel and back strap, plain ferrule, oval tang button and peaked shield languets. CONDITION: Blade would rate excellent with extremely crisp frost etching. Hilt is clean with no rust. Reeded grip is crisp with some very minor chipping at pommel. Steel scabbard is very good with few if any dents and only minor staining. No real pitting. A very crisp and interesting Hungarian saber.
