30 - 1/2" blade with single fuller and etching of florals and shield with an arrow on right, left side with American eagle and riband E. Pluribus Unum. No makers mark visible. Elaborate cast and chased bronze hilt with fierce eagle pommel. Raised relief eagle on langets. Carved and checkered bone grip. Brass scabbard with two hangers. CONDITION: Hilt is excellent, retaining much original bright gilding, bone grip is good with the usual chips up towards the pommel. Blade etching is worn but visible with no serious rust and only very minor pitting on left side. Brass scabbard retains only faint traces of original gilding and has a number of significant door pinches. An attractive eagle hilt.
