6 - 3/4" octagonal barrel with raised foresight is completely unmarked with no LeMat signature and no French proofs. The nine shot LeMat cylinder with no markings other than the serial number. The plain frame with engraved screw and escutcheon, unmarked, except for serial number. Hammer with engraved screw and, amazingly, retains its original folding shotgun striker. Checkered grips with typical LeMat checkering, plain trigger guard, engraved trigger guard screw. Gun is most unusual in that it has and never did have a provision for the side mounted LeMat ramrod. CONDITION: The entire revolver in extremely fine condition for a LeMat. Barrel retains much original pasty military type finish with extremely minor erosion on two flats. Shotgun barrel with much pasty military finish mixing with age brown. Cylinder retains most of its original brighter blue mixing with aged brown. Frame retains considerable original finish with some staining. Trigger guard with little or no finish and some rust staining. Grips rate fine for a LeMat with no significant damage and some flattening to checkered pattern. Steel butt retains some original finish mixing with rust staining. Front strap with very minor erosion. Nipples are mostly good and all original. Action is excellent, as is bore. Gun shows little evidence of use. One of the better and more interesting of this iconic Confederate used Civil War handgun featured in the great Civil War film "Cold Mountain" and another with Clint Eastwood.
