22" tapered round barrel fitted with short military flip-up sight, is engraved "Army & Navy Cooperative Society Limited London." on top. Barrel is fitted with under rib and brass ramrod/ cleaning rod held by two plain pipes, rear with sling eye. Action with flip-over breech block stamped "SNIDER PATENT" is coin finished, and engraved with 50% coverage whorls of scroll. Island front spring lock with round bodied serpentine non-rebounding hammer is engraved with matching scroll within geometric borders along with makers name and address. Half stock of some dense tropical wood, similar to rosewood, is iron mounted and measures 14" over steel buttplate. Scroll engraved trigger guard has loop at rear forming pistol grip. Nose cap is of engraved iron. Point pattern checkering is at grip and forend. Barrel attaches to stock with side bolt through oval steel escutcheons. Weight: 6 lbs 14 oz. CONDITION: Good, as refinished. Metal parts have traces of blue, other parts cleaned to pewter grey. What is possibly a newer stock retains most of its original finish. Bore is good, dirty but with rifling evident. Action appears to be good, lock is fine. MGM224.
