Single action design with 7-1/4" full octagon barrel. Drift adjustable front sight with drift adjustable rear sight. Six shot non-fluted cylinder chambered for 9mm rimfire. Case colored frame engraved in a leaf filled grape vine pattern. Highly figured checkered walnut grip with engraved case colored buttcap with parts trap. Right side of barrel trunnion is legibly marked "D. RENOTTE BREVETTE #2". Cylinder is Liege proofed. Dieudonne Renotte was an arms maker thought to operate from 1853 through 1877. He patented a number of firearms improvements from 1856 to 1859. Very little is known of his cartridge arms as most are percussion and resemble the Tranter or Adams patterns. This example is artfully cased in an oak compartmented case with cleaning rod, oil bottle and turn screw. CONDITION: Very fine with case colors having turned a French grey color. Blue finish is excellent with small micro-scratches from period use and storage. The bore is bright and shiny with sharp lands and grooves. The grips are very good with good checkering with slight point wear. The action is heavy, but crisp and shows little actual use. The case is very fine with excellent interior and very fine exterior.
