Irish revolvers of any type are scarce as the English either outlawed or confiscated them over a number of years. This revolver with 4" round barrel is unusual in that it is rimfire rather than centerfire. Revolver of classic Tranter type with top flat of barrel engraved "W&J KAVANAUGH DUBLIN". Frame with line engraving. Backstrap with line engraving en suite. Plain trigger guard. Swivel for cylinder removal and cartridge ejection. One piece checkered walnut grip. CONDITION: Barrel retains much original bright blue English finish, as does frame. Hammer finished in bright. Some minor pitting on right side of frame and marks where cylinder pin has been removed improperly. Cylinder retains only traces of finish with some heavier pitting throughout. Trigger and hammer with some minor staining still retaining some original bright finish. Checkered walnut grips with minor wear to diamonds. Bore is good. Action is excellent and functions well. Original case with "W&J KAVANAUGH" trade label. Blue lining is original. Cartridge block intact. Cleaning rod appears original. Case is dirty and will clean very well. Altogether, a rare Irish revolver in its original case.
