This fine pistol has a round flared brass barrel with cannon muzzle and a series of turnings around the edges. It is fitted with a horn-tipped baleen ramrod secured by two brass ferrules. A triangular socket bayonet is mounted on the bottom near the muzzle and is spring activated when the trigger guard is pulled back. The bottom of the barrel near the breech is stamped with English view and proof marks, as well as the maker's mark "B / I & W". The scalloped brass boxlock action is engraved with borders on both sides. On the right side is an oval inscribed "LONDON" surrounded by arms motifs and on the opposite side is the name "J & W / RICHARDS" in an oval surrounded by shells, a cannon, and a flag. The action features a reinforced cock with a sliding thumb safety. The iron trigger guard bow is engraved with a flower. Flat cane grip of partially figured walnut with beveled edges and a vacant silver oval wrist escutcheon on top. CONDITION: Very good to excellent overall. Brass retains a dark, unpolished patina and markings and engraving are excellent. Iron components retain a pleasing grey patina. Grip shows a few scattered storage marks, otherwise excellent. A very nice British boarding pistol.
