Javelle revolvers are unique in that they have a lever which when activated causes the barrel cluster to fall forward for ease of cleaning and loading. Javelle patented this design and his revolvers are more collectible and interesting than the average French pinfire. This Javelle system has a 4" octagonal barrel with floral engraving at lug, plain six shot cylinder, finely engraved frame; plain trigger guard, hammer and trigger; smooth one piece ebony grips are well molded and fit the hand. Revolver is 9" overall. CONDITION: Barrel retains much original bright blue mixing with surface rust. Frame has much original blue finish. Trigger guard is either refinished or replaced as there is distortion and pitting on the bow. Buttcap is finely engraved and in nice condition. Ebony grips are original in good condition with only minor marks. Bore is good with some pitting. Action is excellent. Altogether, a fine example of this system.
