Galand revolvers are one of the most interesting firearms inventions of the latter half of the 19th century. Simply by dropping the trigger guard, the barrel and cylinder slide forward, ejecting the cartridges and making loading very easy. An additional refinement is that all Galands are double action. This revolver is well marked on left side of the barrel "GALAND FABT" with a crown "K" proof mark. Six shot cylinder. What distinguishes this revolver in particular are the fantastic gutta percha grips which feature an eagle's head with a vine in its beak and a fierce winged griffin on each side. 9" overall length. CONDITION: Revolver retains considerable darkened blue with some minor pitting on right side of barrel. Trigger guard mostly grey metal. Cylinder retains much original finish with little erosion. Gutta percha grips are excellent with no discernible damage. Backstrap has minor pitting throughout, as does front strap. Lanyard ring is present and intact. Bore is excellent. Action works perfectly, both single and double action. A scarce and very collectible oddity revolver.
