The large swept hilt with five branches and wide volute quillions measuring 11 - 1/4". Baluster pommel and beautiful complex steel and copper wire wrapped wooden grip. 43" lozenge shaped rapier blade with short single fuller on each side. Hilt and pommel appear to be en suite. The rapier blade from another sword but fits well. CONDITION: Mostly grey metal, in need of cleaning. The grip in good condition missing one Turk's head at base of pommel. All together an attractive and original 17th century continental rapier in relatively good condition throughout.
