Matching serial numbers on frame, barrel, cylinder, backstrap, trigger guard, and wedge. The sixth contract was for 1,000 pistols for militia units, contract is dated May 26th, 1853 and the 1,000 pistols were delivered to the New York Ordnance Depot by June 30th, 1854. Serial numbers range from 10186 to 11581. Left side of frame is stamped "COLTS PATENT US". Acceptance stamps include "B" on backstrap, "Q" and "B" on trigger guard. Has the square back brass trigger guard. Walnut grips show no traces of inspector stamp. CONDITION: Metal is basically grey patina. Barrel address is partially visible. Cylinder is basically worn smooth, has all original nipples, and safety pins are worn. Brass has not been cleaned. Grips are very good. Indexes and locks up correctly. Strong rifled bore with usual residue. Basically, a good, honest example of an early issue Dragoon pistol that has seen service and holster wear.
