The 7-1/2" barrel was standard length on the long flute models only. Factory letter states serial number 2843 was shipped to United States Government on April 4th, 1861 with blued finish, wood stocks, .44 caliber, and 7-1/2" barrel; which confirms the long flute configuration. This was part of the first 300 Model 1860's purchased by the US Army; the first 300 being shipped on April 4th, the second 500 shipped May 21st, and the next 500 shipped June 4th. There are no US Government stamps which is normal for these early shipments. Factory cut for a shoulder stock. Frame is stamped "COLTS PATENT". Round barrel has Hartford address. Features the scarce full fluted cylinder. Matching serial numbers on frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder, barrel, and cylinder pin. Wedge is not numbered. CONDITION: Metal is basically grey patina. Legends are mostly readable. Stocks are very good with usual dings. Original trigger was broken and replaced but is still included. Revolver indexes correctly but a little off time. Strong bore with minor residue. Comes in a period unmarked flap holster with some checking; missing strap. Very rare opportunity to acquire on the first 300 1860 Armies ordered for use in the Civil War.
