Originally made in 1950, this is a beautiful Pre-64 Model 70 Super Grade stocked by famed gun stock maker, Tom Selhammer in very light colored English walnut (?) with nice fiddleback grain. The gun has a contemporary Weaver 4x scope and is fitted with sling swivels and a leather sling. Stock is wonderfully skip line checkered at wrist in point pattern and at forearm which has a small Schnabel and bone inlay at tip. The pistol grip is capped in bone. Cheek piece on left side of stock which terminates in full steel checkered buttplate. Floorplate stamped "Super Grade". Bolt with damascene polishing marks. Under buttplate, gun is signed "T. Shelhammer 1092". CONDITION: Extremely fine as custom finish. Retains nearly all custom finish to both wood and metal with only minor handling marks. There is a very small loss of blue at floorplate, otherwise finishes are close to 98% overall. A very beautiful rifle with a stock by one of America's more important 20th century rifle stockers!
