With an extremely limited production of 477 units(Flaydermans Guide) the 1875 Officer's Model is one of the rarest of all US Arsenal manufactured arms. Manufactured for private purchase by US Military Officers these prized rifles saw extensive use and are rarely encountered in their original configuration. Round 26" tapered barrel with folding Beech type front sight and slide adjustable pattern a879 rear sight. Hickory wiping rod with brass tip guided by single iron ferrule attached to barrel. Walnut stock is checkered t forearm and wrist with checkered arsenal installed pistol grip adapter. Scroll engraved pewter forearm tip with military buttplate with out provision for trap. Small circle "P" inspection is evident on bottom of butt beneath checkering. Traditional scroll engraved receiver bridge, tang, and trap breech as well as trigger guard. Trap breech is marked "U.S. Model 1873". Lockplate and hammer are both scroll engraved in the appropriate pattern and plate is marked "U.S. Springfield". Chambered for the US Govenment .45-70 cartridge. Staff pattern tang sight with 4-1/2" staff with friction locking eye cup. CONDITION: Good as found with all metal having attained an even dove grey to brown patina. Wood is worn with areas of checkering being worn smooth. Stock has numerous minor bruises and blemishes consistent with age. Bore is fair with moderate wear and a internal ring 10" from muzzle. Action operates properly and lock up is solid.
