This is an attractive deluxe sporter with checkered oiled walnut stock and deep Colt factory blue finish. These uncommon Colt Sporting rifles are found in several calibers and barrel lengths. A number of these rifles were sold outside the United States as this is a prime example with British proofs found on the barrel and fluted cylinder. 24" part octagon to round barrel, crescent shaped buttplate, six shot cylinder and two line Colt patent and address on top strap. CONDITION: Gun is very good to fine overall. The barrel is grey-brown with thin plum colored finish. The frame, cylinder, and trigger guard have the usual dark Colt blue finish that is 40% intact with balance turning plum. The bore and chambers are excellent. Action operates properly and locks up solidly. Stocks are fine overall, well fit; buttstock is nicely factory checkered and remains in fine oil finished condition. Wood used in buttstock has a more attractive color than the typical straight grain normally seen on Colt rifles of this era. Stocks are oil finished and have a numerous small dings, dents and scratches. Wooden ramrod with brass tips is very good
