Full blue finish Colt Single Action Army with 7-1/2" barrel marked "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT.U.S.A.". Serial number 9027 found on frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder and barrel beneath ejector rod housing. Bullseye ejector and one piece varnished walnut grips. Full blue finish including frame, as was the British style. Vividly marked on right side of trigger guard with the forward facing rampant Colt with the small block "C" indicating that it was marketed by Barron Frederick Von Oppen who represented Samuel Colt in London. Marked "45 cal", "B" on left side of trigger guard indication the gun is chambered for the .45 Boxer cartridge. Two line patent marking on left side of frame. Cylinder has no lead in slots and is still properly chambered for the short .45 Boxer cartridge. These early export guns are rarely found in in any condition and when found are most often rechambered to the more available .45 Colt cartridges. British proof marks are found on the barrel and on each chamber. CONDITION: Very good with over 60% blue finish remaining on barrel. Black powder frame retains well over 80% blue finish while trigger guard has 40% finish with front strap worn to patina. Backstrap is an even patina with blue finish in protected areas. Cylinder has silvered out with slight traces of blue in flutes, one piece varnished walnut grips are very fine with generous amounts of varnish and very slight chipping at bottom edges and at toe. Bore is very good with strong rifling with very light frosting in grooves. Action is crisp and functions properly. A very fine and honest Colt single action that requires no explanations or excuses.
