Appears to be by Lacy & Company, circa 1822. The 14" brass barrel characteristic Blunderbuss form with 1-1/4" bell at muzzle; half round, half octagon and marked "LONDON" on top flat with British proofs on left flat and a lion with "2" above. Step bolted lock with push-on safety, indistinctly signed "LACY & CO". Frizzen with roller bearing spring. Figured walnut fullstock. Brass trigger guard with acorn finial. Brass buttplate engraved with a shield trophy of arms. Engraved steel side nails. Snap bayonet with blood groove measures 11". CONDITION: Brass barrel in very good condition with crisp proofs and London mark. Lock has been polished bright, obscuring the maker's name. Hammer with correct small parts. Frizzen is the original, possibly slightly reduced at apex. Bayonet with extremely minor pitting. Stock in generally good condition with a few minor dents and one period wooden inset at wrist. Action is crisp. Snap bayonet has strong spring but does not lock properly, easily remedied. Ramrod fragmentary. This attractive Blunderbuss in 30" overall and a classic example of its type.
