One of the great elusive rarities of Parker collecting is a fine steel barreled 8 gauge gun. Made in 1911, this magnificent 8 gauge made on a beastly No. 6 frame has an unstrock barrel weight stamped on the barrel flats of 8 lbs 14 oz. The 36" barrels with full length matted top rib and steel front bead have usual rib address markings. The gun was made with nickel plated double triggers, extractors, splinter forend, and non-auto safety. The splinter forend is checkered in typical DH grade pattern with engraved Deeley release and steel tip. The large action is engraved in typical "D" grade pattern with Pointer on left, Setter on right and four geese on bottom all surrounded by well cut scroll engraved. The capped pistol grip buttstock is checkered in standard D grade pattern with tear drops behind action, silver oval near toe and terminates in the original Silvers type pad which is deteriorating but looks great. CONDITION: Outstanding overall. This is easily one of the nicest steel barreled 8 gauge Parkers this cataloger has examined having been involved with Parker shotguns for more than 30 years! The barrels retain nearly all of an older restored blue finish, having been restored after the forend lug came loose, and has started to detach again (likely due to size, not use). Bores are brilliant and shiny. Stocks are original and retain nearly all of their original finish with minor light handling marks. On the left side of the butt at the grip area there are two wood knots that can be seen, and one on right near cheek area, but stocks are sound and in great original condition for this type of gun. Action retains a great deal of its original case color- perhaps more than 80% though difficult to discern as the action has turned a mild brownish color with plenty of rainbow color visible on most parts and breech face appears to only show a very light shell ring. The pad has hardened and mushroomed but is totally original. Top lever still far right of center. Just a fabulous big bore Parker that would be the centerpiece of any American big bore gun collection. If you have wanted a great big bore steel barreled Parker, do not pass this gun up!
