Far better than average civilian model Colt Dragoon. It is in essentially untouched, as found condition. Barrel with address "SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY" stamped on top flat. Dragoon has all matching numbers including wedge. Frame stamped Colts patent, inspector marks "H" on backstrap, "K" and "L" and trigger bow, "H" on left flat of barrel lug. CONDITION: Barrel with deep, even, aged brown and only very minor pitting; loading lever in similar condition. Cylinder with only minor pits, deeply struck serial number, and strong traces of Indian and Dragoon scene. All nipples appear original; pin safeties are damaged, several still present. Frame full dimension with some minor raised corrosion. Recoil shield and hammer with deep, even, aged brown. Backstrap and trigger guard with mellow patina. Screw heads somewhat damaged but appear all original. Screw for loading lever absent. Walnut grips are worn but still full dimension; a wooden plug has been passed through both sides of grip, appears to be a very old repair. Rifled bore is fine for a Dragoon and will improve with careful cleaning. Crisp action. Far better than average 3rd Model Dragoon in essentially as found condition and far more attractive than the usual over-cleaned examples. If you want a good example of Colt's four pounder, look no further.
