Lot consists of (A) 28" blade clip point blade and very broad single fuller, unidentified stamp at ricasso, no other discernible marks. Stirrup hilt with urn pommel. Fluted wood grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: Blade with staining but no real serious pitting, unpolished brass hilt. Fluted wooden grip is cracked with losses. (B) is a Horstmann with 23" blade with single fuller and engraving on blade, stamped Horstmann and Sons, Philadelphia at ricasso, King's head mark at right side of blade, right side of blade with trophy of arms. All brass eagle hilted grip, simple D guard stamped Horstmann in a lozenge. No scabbard. CONDITION: Blade with medium pitting through its length, heavier at tip. Brass hilt with numerous dents and marks. Horstmann marks clear on both blade and hilt. Engraving on blade worn but partially visible. These early Marine swords are scarce because the Marines were the few and the proud even at that time.
