Lot consists of three U.S.M.C. Kepi caps. (A) Dark wool body, black leather visor, chinstrap, and U.S.M.C. eagle side buttons. The front displays a "M" within a brass trumpet insignia. Top of cap has an iron cross with an anchor within it. "Horstmann Bros. & Co. Manufacturers Philadelphia" in silver highlights on sweatband, along with a painted A-15 on opposite side. CONDITION: Wool shows mothing all around. Areas of loss to wool under visor. Visor shows aging. Rear of cap shows areas of re-stitching. Chinstrap is torn and shows cracking all around. Sweatband shows wear. but is in good condition. Cotton lining is fully intact. (B) Dark wool body, black leather visor, chinstrap, and U.S.M.C eagle side buttons. No manufacturer markings. CONDITION: Wool is in excellent condition with few to no signs of mothing. Visor shows aging. Chinstrap is excellent with minor area of loss on strap loop. Sweatband shows wear. Cotton lining is fully intact. (C) Dark wool body, black leather visor, and U.S.M.C. eagle side buttons, The front displays "M" within a brass trumpet insignia. "The Manhattan Supply Co./ New York/ Contract June 8 18XX" the rest of the date is worn away. CONDITION: Wool shows few to no signs of any mothing. Areas of re-stitching around sweatband. Sweatband is in poor condition with a 3 - 3/4" tear on the left side by address. Cotton lining is not present. Overall a nice lot of Civil/ Indian War kepis.
