Tapered straight double fuller blade with single edge. Brass hilt with large pierced-shell guard with four branches extending into knuckle bow. Smaller shell counterguard on opposite side. A grenadier bomb of brass has been applied to the guard on the right side. Black leather-wrapped wood grip decorated with strand of twisted brass wire. Complete with black leather covered scabbard with brass mounts and iron drag tip. CONDITION: Blade has been cleaned bright with some corrosion overall, some areas have been smoothed out. Brass hilt has been polished with darker patina in protected areas and some scattered marks from use. Grip has been re-wrapped. Scabbard mounts show series of dents and marks from use, brass has been rubbed and lacquered. There are some traces of gilt in protected areas. An attractive and hard to find early 19th century officer's saber.
