(A) U.S. MODEL 1816 TYPE III FLINTLOCK MUSKET BY EVANS, DATED 1833.

This is a Type III contract musket by W.L. Evans, V. Forge and so marked on the lock. Matching 1833 dates on the lock plate and barrel tang. "US/ NWP" inspectors proof on barrel is still visible as well as the sunburst "P". Cartouches on the left side of the stock are both present. There are some inspectors markings behind the trigger guard tang. "JAE" lightly carved into the left side of the butt. CONDITION: Metal surfaces with the exception of the lockplate have been cleaned lightly at some point. Original flintlock configuration. Some light pitting in metal. All markings are clear. Lock is in good working order. Stock has light storage and handling marks.
