Classic filet knife from the dean of custom knife makers, William Scagel (1873-1963). This knife is classic Scagel with 7-3/8" slight up-swept blade with angled single nickel silver guard and Brow tine stag handle. Blade is crisply marked with Bill Scagel's trademark "Kris" stamp on left side of blade while right side of blade stamped with "W.Scagel Handmade". Bill Scagel knives are unique in themselves with hunting and fighting knives having represented the majority of his production. Fishing pattern or filet knives are very infrequently seen and is probably due to that fact that these knives saw hard use in the lakes region where Bill Scagel produced his work. CONDITION: Very fine with very slight period staining on blade. and some very slight scratches from period use. The Brow tine handle with nickel silver guard is very fine and the stag has attained a very pleasant caramel coloring from age. A wonderful condition knife in one of the least frequently encountered variations. TDW
