The spear point blade marked MANSON SHEFFIELD on the ricasso, the blade fully etched with a spread winged eagle and the words "American Bowie Knife", "E Pluribus Unum", "The Americans Ask for Nothing but what it Right and Submit to Nothing that is Wrong". The nickel silver cutlery handle features two fish in high relief. Red Moroccan leather sheath with nickel silver tip and throat. c.1850s-1860s. While Manson-marked knives are encountered with some frequency, the source of these English-made knives of the mid-1800s has yet to be discovered. CONDITION: The blade unsharpened and unused, with bright original polish excepting for some scattered spots. The handle is dented at the extreme rear.
