Very large folding navaja with clip point blade marked [N]AVAJAS DE TOLEDO, both faces of the blade faintly etched with scenes and mottos. Ring-type lock release. Iron liners with brass bolsters and bone handles, which also show traces of decorative etching. Circa second half 19th century; similar examples shown in Navajas Antiguas, Las Mejores Piezas de Coleccion by Martínez del Peral Fortón (pp.88,90) CONDITION: Blade does not appear to have been used, but has a few small areas of pitting. Just a couple of handle cracks.
