Bowie with clip point blade featuring an etch of a spread winged eagle and the words "Geo'e Rodgers, 150, Broad Lane" along with "America, The Land of Freedom" and "Protected by her Brave Volunteers". "RODGERS SHEFFIELD". Made without a guard in an attractive coffin shaped form with ebony wood scales. Moroccan leather sheath with nickel silver tip and throat. c. 1840s-1850s. Few knives are known by George Rodgers but this distinctive knife is of very fine quality. CONDITION: Blade appears unsharpened and unused, but has a few scattered areas of pitting. The upper portion of the etching is somewhat weak .
