Spear point blade with sharpened false edge, stamped on face of blade V (crown) R, HARRISON BROS. & HOWSON, CUTLERS TO HER MAJESTY and on the ricasso NO. 45 NORFOLK ST., SHEFFIELD. Cast nickel silver frame handle in swell center form with dark horn scales. Ornate escutcheon is engraved with a falcon and "I.H.W., 90th L.I.", which bears further research. Leather sheath with nickel silver throat and brass tip. c. 1849-1850s; Harrison Bros & Howson was established in 1849 and in time would become one of the largest concerns in Sheffield. CONDITION: Blade has been refinished, handle with two small cracks and some insect damage on rear scale. Sheath tip a period replacement.
