28 - 3/4" blade of characteristic form with what appear to be French proofs at ricasso. Etched with E Pluribus Unum motto and eagle on left, large U.S. on right. Hilt of standard 1850s staff and field officer form. Wrapped fish skin grip. Brass mounted scabbard appears to have some of its original lacquer brown. CONDITION: Blade is good with some staining. Fish skin grip and wrap rate very good. Hilt with faint traces of gilding. Scabbard is good. Drag displays the usual door pinches. Scabbard itself is crisp. Sword does not appear to have ever been disassembled. A good example.
