The factory letter states that this rifle was shipped June 13th, 1902 as a .40-72 rifle with no other notes. It features a full octagon barrel, blue finish, walnut stock, rifle butt, ebony forend tip, and standard front and rear sporting sights. CONDITION: Metal is a dark brown overall patina with sharp legends. Stocks have been sanded a bit shy, the buttstock has several small stress cracks, and there is a hole where rear swivel was added and removed. There is a small nail in both stock and forend on base. Rifling is visible but worn and dull. Good solid example of scarce octagon barreled Model 1895. This rifle comes with a framed shadow box display that features an ammo box with ammo, a Winchester knife, and a plaque.
