The 32" blade, etched with trophies of arms on right, large U.S. on left. Signed at ricasso H. Sauerbier, N.J. Cast and chased brass guard with eagle and shield usually associated with French imports. Waisted grip, leather, bound with three stands of wire. Leather scabbard with three mounts. Engraved with flowers. CONDITION: Scabbard would rate very good, still retaining some original blade finish. Blade is medium to heavy pitted at tip. Etching still clear and visible but stained. Brass guard with no gilding remaining. Scabbard mounts clean, drag with the usual door pinches. An interesting Civil War imported saber.
