This sword features a double edged, tapered diamond section blade; both sides decoration with starts, dated 1704, and inscribed with large initials "MV". The ricasso on one side shows a white museum or collection number. Hand forged 'S' shaped iron guard and plain wooden grip tapered at both ends with a flat iron pommel cap and a ferrule at the base. This sword is of an unusual form and was possibly assembled in America. CONDITION: Blade retains a dark patina with many "battle nicks" on both of the edges. Hilt retains a dark patina and grip retains much of its blackened finish. Tang appears undisturbed.
