For a similar example see plate 111.PA on page 219 of "Swords & Blades of the American Revolution" by George C. Neumann. Head measures 12 - 1/4" overall with an 8 - 3/8" blade, hand forged of iron with flat faces. Below the blade is an "S"-shaped hand forged iron bar and a 3 - 5/8" cone shaped socket. Socket and blade were forged from one piece of iron. The wood haft is contemporary. CONDITION: Head retains a dark heavily patinated and pitted patina.
