This is a spear point Bowie knife made by the Lockwood Brothers and maker marked on the ricasso "CTX Lockwood Brothers". It features a spear point double edged blade, German silver furniture with bulbous quillons at guard, and one piece stag handle. The sheath is made of leather and features German silver throat, presentation plaque, and drag. The throat and drag have triple line decoration. Drag features another bulbous device at tip. Plaque reads "To / Mr. John Hood / From / F.G. / 1880". CONDITION: Blade retains much of its original bright polish with only minor surface staining.Scabbard rates excellent for both leather and mounts. Stag handle is pristine. A good spearpoint Bowie.
