The curved 16" body features a rounded spout section with ring at tip and relief ring scallop on both sides below; the engraved portion is inscribed "BENJAMIN TYLER'S HORN DECEMBER ye 11 1775". The horn shows New England style depictions including a large house and tree, as well as eight species of avians including a depiction of what appears to be a flying crocodile-type bird. Also depicted is a three masted ship of war and a smaller sailboat, as well as a buck and a fox. The wooden plug is flat and retained by wooden pins. CONDITION: Horn retains a light honey patina and was probably cleaned at one time. The horn shows fairly significant carry wear and some scattered marks. There is some chipping, cracks, and minor losses around the base. The 3-3/4" spout section is a professional replacement and colored very well to match. The horn has attractive architecture.
