The Model 60 is referred to as the .38 Chief's Special Stainless, built on the round butt J frame, three screw, five shot, fluted cylinder, pinned barrel, with gold medallion checkered walnut grips. First production run was in serial range 401754 to 401792. Features beautiful scroll engraving covering 70% of the surface. The two piece blue box has a matching end label and under special features is written "Eng. AA White". Could not find White's signature on gun, and basing this provenance solely to the box as there is no factory letter. CONDITION: Gun has been fired with some light cylinder burn. Fine bore and action. Overall, near mint condition as fired. Alvin A. White began his career as an engraver for Colt Firearms in the 1950's and became the Master Engraver. He raised decorative gun engraving to an art form and is recognized as the ?Dean of American Arms Engravers.? His work is on display in museums and has been featured in articles and on the covers of leading firearms magazines throughout the world.
