Made for US market, stamped as such on blade. Eagle motif on guard. The handle scales are modern replacements as is the latch piece. Scales are four pieces of genuine ivory with nickel silver bolsters. Blade has been heavily cleaned and is 8" long, over-all length is 17". The blade stamps are visible but weak in spots, marked MA [de fo the Uni]TED STATES BY SAMUEL C WRAGG, DIRK [Knife Ma]KER NO 25 [F]URNACE HILL SHEFFIELD. Tang is marked WRAGGS IMPROVED PATENT CUTLERY. Circa 1840s.
