Circa War of 1812, this scarce Philadelphia made horseman's saber has a single fuller blade and is iron mounted. 34-3/4” single fuller blade marked W. Rose & Sons on spine of blade. William Rose of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania had a contract from the U.S. Government for 2,000 of these swords. CONDITION: Blade is grey overall and has some scattered areas of light mossing and a few blade nicks. The wood grip has 50% of its original leather intact with the twisted brass wire wrap missing. This saber retains its extremely scarce original iron and leather scabbard, which is the nicest one we have seen offered. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Wagner Cavalry Museum collection.
