Regulation pre-World War I issue cavalry saber with iron hilt and blackened steel scabbard. Includes period correct leather sword knot and leather hangers. Made by the Ames Sword Company, the Model 1906 Saber was an updated Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber as the Model 1872 was found to be flimsy in comparison. Troopers during the Indian Wars carried the Model 1860 if they could still find them in armories. Many of these sabers went to the Mexican Border with cavalry units chasing Pancho Villa during the Punitive Expedition in 1916. Saber has a 34 -7/8" bright double fuller blade, with "U.S./J.H.C." on the left side of the ricasso and "A.S. Co." above ordnance bursting bomb and "1906". Two branch iron hand guard, wire wrapped leather grip over wood with original factory leather washer at base of blade. CONDITION: Excellent. Blade is in high polish with bright finish. No nicks to the edge are visible, and blade retains sharp tip. Leather wrap and wire are 99% intact. Scabbard is also excellent with no dents or bends.

Condition: Excellent.
